~ASB 2010~

As I sit here today, I can only wish that I was still in Biloxi with the United Way Alternative Spring Break. That was without a doubt the most amazing,life-changing,and rewarding experience of my life.
My week started on Sunday evening when I arrived at SUMA to meet everybody. Right away, I knew it was going to be an awesome week. We got our team assignments and projects and I could not have been more excited to be on the Heritage House project. We spent the entire week repainting two Historical Homes that had been damaged by Hurricane Katrina. It was very humbling to meet the people of the community.
Our days were loonng and hard but it was worth it in the end. We were awake every morning at 6:30 getting ready for breakfast at 7:00. We then boarded the buses at 8:00 to head to the job sites and work all day. We didn't get back to camp until 4:30 or 5:00 every night from our day of working. We had dinner every night at 6:00 which included our team reports,shout-outsk,and just hanging out with everyone. We also had an activity everynight to regroup and hang with everybody instead of just our group. Monday we went to Target to participate in the First Ever Flash Mob in Mississippi. It was such an Amazing thing to be part of. Tuesday we had a bonfire on the beach....just hated it was a little cold and windy :) Wednesday we had a Shrimp Boil which was Amazing. However, beens I was the only one from the South I had to show everyone how to peel shrimp. Thursday we had a Karoke/Dance Night. Such an Awesome Time!! And Friday we had our closing ceremonies. We left Saturday which was a bittersweeet time. Was really excited to get back home but didn't want to leave the Amazing people I met. But I will post pictures and more later...I'm still trying to get caught up on all the sleep I missed. Team Lolly Pop Kids 4ever!!

ASB 2010

As I sit exhausted in a hotel room in Mississippi, I can't help but miss ASB already. I only left everyone 6 hours ago, but it already seems like too long. I spent the past week getting to know some of the most amazing people from across the country. We have spent countless hours working, playing catchphrase, going to the beach,or just hanging out and talking. They are truly some people I will never forget.
I will write more about my week in the next few days. I am literally exhausted and about to pass out as I sit here.

Random....

So as I'm sitting here waiting to go to work I figured I'd blog. Not too much change in my life....just the same old stressful things :) I get to start actually painting my room next week so I'll be moved in a couple of weeks....YAY! I am competing in Miss Abbeville this Saturday night. Little nervous since it's been 5 years since I actually did a pageant. I hope I do good cause I eventually want to compete in Miss Peanut one day :) I also leave for the Alternative Spring Break in 2 weeks!! SOOOO EXCITED!! I will be helping make a difference in the community. And my sister is coming up in about 3 weeks so I will get to see her again. Haven't seen them since around October during the Peanut Festival. Anywho....I unfortunately have to get up and go to work :(

Life Changes....

Ok so I figured I'd blog and talk since my so called friend refused to listen to me....funny how that usually works out. Anyway, me and my family are in the process of moving back to Abbeville into my grandpa's old house. And this house needs ALOT of work...I'm talking scraping most of the walls, repainting, and tearing up floors and putting new ones down. Plus actually getting our furniture and everything else over here from Georgia. Not exactly the time where everyone is in a great mood :b
Plus, to top everything off we just found out my sister and nephew will bemoving in with us in about 5 weeks or so! SOOOOO EXCITED!!!! My brother-in-law is going to A-School in California for about 6 months so rather than pay for an apartment and than move she's just coming back home. I CAN'T WAIT for them to get here so I can actuall spoil my nephew like any Aunt would do. Plus it's been almost 4 months since I've seen them so it should be fun.
Anyway, onto my original reason for writing this blog.....just figured I'd let everyone know what was going on. If you've read some previous posts then you've read all about my ex-boyfriend....boy what a waste of time. Anyway, the same day I dumped him he was back with his ex-girlfriend and supposedly happier than ever. Well just the other day I heard the news....he is going to be a DADDY!! HAHA. My sister and me discussed it when the whole breakup happened and said she wud be pregnant within the year and they would get married because of how righteous they claim they are. Well she's 4 months now...which means she actually got pregnant like 3 months after they started dating. I find it unbelievably funny how much people contradict themselves in these situations. :)
Anyway, just figured I'd get that off my chest. My supposed best friend went pyscho when I tried to talk to her. I was calling this girl a horrible person because I said I knew it would happen and how did I not get they were uber excited for this baby just like their families were....which I still talk to his mom when I see her in town and I don't think she's all that excited. She didn't want a grandkid for several more years and made the comment she didn't want one from her. I got a little mad cause my friend was sticking up for her and not even trying to listen to me....so I quit trying and talked to my sister. Thanx Court for actually listening and letting me talk. Can't wait for you to get home! I'll write later with a progress report on the house and some pictures!!

ASB 2010

So my excitement is literally growing everyday. I got my first e-mail the other day about my trip to Mississippi. It told me where I would be staying for the week, what I needed to bring,as well as a few interesting facts about Biloxi. After a day of working we can go to the beach which is right across the street from our dorms, or even walk around and explore the city. I really couldn't be more pumped :) Now I just have to raise money to pay for my trip, along with buying new supplies that I have to take down there. I'll keep updates as I get more e-mails and info.

Alternate Spring Break

So I am pretty pumped! I honestly don't remember the last time I was this excited. I got accepted to be a part of United Way's Alternate Spring Break 2010!! So awesome :)
I'll be a part of 80 teens from all over the place spending the week in Biloxi, Mississippi helping to rebuild the community. We will all be completing different projects in different groups to actually make a difference in someone's life. Now for anybody that knows me, knows that I am one who puts others before myself. My parents have actually had to make me buy something for myself because I would spend it on my sister or on them because I saw something they might want. I am so excited that I am gonna be able to go down there. I plan on blogging about it all along with posting alot of pictures. I can't wait to meet other people who like making a difference as much as me!
O and for anybody who is feeling generous and wants to help out visit my facebook page. You can find a link to a fundraising page. I have to raise about $200 to help buy all the tools we will need. Thanks for any support!!!!
